It's Kwanzaa All! Or greeted more appropriately: Habari Gani? (What's the news?)
Today is the second day of Kwanzaa--a cultural festival designed to make us more reflective of our cultural principles and thankful for the gifts that they afford us. Today's principle of the Nguzu Saba is one of my absolute favorites! It is kujichagulia (self-determination).
Today is about taking full ownership of (and responsibility for) our destinies. It is about being determined to manifest what we want that will serve the best interests of our communities.
Today is also about the power to define reality for ourselves in ways that empower us collectively, encourage us individually, and ensure our total liberation.
I challenge you to identify at least one thing in your life that you are willing to take 100% responsibility for and define it according to your needs and purposes without regard to what others may think. Try it for at least 21 days, and then let me know what happens. Ya hear?
